How can I tell if my AC is broken?

Simple answer, when the cool air ceases to flow. When this happens, the first thing you need to do is to check your thermostat.

Below are a few steps you can try:

1. When your thermostat display is blank, try changing the batteries.

2. When this does not work, remove the thermostat and check the wires to make sure it is still receiving power. Use a multimeter to check the voltage also.

3. If you do not get any voltage, then check your fuse box to see if any fuses are blown or have been tripped. When all looks good, find the switch connected to your central A/C and switch it on and off to reset the system.

4. when it is receiving power, but the screen is blank, go outside and check the condenser to find out if a fuse has been tripped.

If nothing else works, the time has come to call upon our services.

Why is my air conditioner freezing up?

This happens when there is a lack of refrigerant, or the evaporator coils are not receiving any airflow. If your air conditioner is freezing, the first thing you need to do is switch it off. Should you continue to run it, you run the chance of damaging the compressor.

That concludes our article, we hope that you found it beneficial. If you are looking for a troubleshooting AC system service in Fort Myers, FL, please do not hesitate to call us at Yoder Heating and Cooling LLC at (239) 464-6142 today.
